Setup Guide
Get OrOrbit up and running in minutes. Windows is supported today; macOS and Linux are coming soon.
Windows
- 1 Download the installer from the downloads page. Run the
.exeinstaller. - 2 Open OrOrbit Server. The setup wizard launches automatically and walks you through picking a connection method (Direct IP, Your Own Domain, or LAN Party), a privacy mode (Standalone or Pulsar Assisted), and a voice relay.
- 3 Set an admin password and finish. OrOrbit provisions a TLS certificate (Let's Encrypt via DNS-01 for Pulsar subdomains or TLS-ALPN-01 on port 443 for everything else, including IP-bound certs), starts the database, and brings the server online.
- 4 Open the OrOrbit client, create your identity file, point it at your server, and create an orbit. Click Invite to generate a link for your friends.
- 5 Share the invite link. Your friends download OrOrbit and paste the link to join.
Note: The installer automatically adds
Windows Firewall rules for OrOrbit. If prompted by Windows Firewall, click Allow.
Always-on server
Want your server to start automatically when your computer boots?
- Desktop app (Windows): OrOrbit Server registers a login-item entry
when you enable auto-start in the admin panel. If you prefer, you can also add a
shortcut to
shell:startupmanually.
